4 Facts About the 10 Pass Ozone Treatment You Should Know Before You Do It

by | Last updated: Mar 3, 2020 | 17 comments

The 10 pass ozone therapy treatment is supposed to be the most powerful, the most effective, the best of the best, the non-plus ultra of all ozone treatments.

The one which Dr. Lahondy, a doctor with 50 years of experience, says can cure nearly 100% of all diseases?!

The one and maybe the ONLY treatment which can cure Lyme disease in just a few sessions.

It sounds amazing.

Too good to be true.

Which it is, because it comes with baggage.

It’s four pieces of luggage to be precise.

What luggage? Are you sending me on a vacation? What are you talking about, woman?

Here is what the Crazy Ozone Lady is talking about:

When you do the 10 pass, you’re not getting just ozone.

You’re also getting other stuff: things like heparin, a possible histamine reaction, hemolysis, and ozone induced Herxheimer reactions.

On top of that many doctors like to administer additional IVs, like glutathione, as part of their ozone deal. These come with their own problems.

This is the baggage I’m talking about – a whole bunch of confounding factors.

So when a patient says:

“I did the 10 pass ozone treatment and now I have joint pain / feel tired / have a rash / feel dizzy / have a headache / feel worse than before”,

it’s impossible to tell what is going on.

Which one of those factors is causing those issues? Was it the heparin? Is she maybe histamine intolerant? Or anemic?

Should she stop or should she continue with the ozone therapy?

Maybe she just needs to eat a steak?

Finding answers to those questions could take months.

But maybe I can help speed up the process:

Fact #1 you should know before the 10 pass ozone treatment: heparin comes with side-effects

Whenever you draw large amounts of blood outside of the human body you need to add an anti-coagulant to make sure the blood doesn’t clot. If it clots, you won’t be able to re-infuse it and you won’t be able to perform the treatment.

There are different anti-coagulants. The one which is used with the 10 pass is heparin.

Heparin is made out of pig parts (sorry vegans) [2] and is usually a well tolerated drug.

A few years ago there were a number of incidences where people died [3] because of tainted heparin (it had nothing to do with ozone treatments, it was just part of the regular, medically scheduled genocide [4]). Since then they seem to have solved the problem among the Chinese manufacturers, and these things don’t occur anymore. So it seems. [2]

The normal adverse effects heparin can cause are usually transient and not severe.

But, there is a whole bunch of them [1].

Here just a sample:

  • abdominal pain
  • dizziness
  • headaches
  • joint pain
  • numbness or tingling
  • shortness of breath

Reading them is like reading the very symptoms people are trying to get rid of before they do the 10 pass.

Instead they’re getting more of them.

Some are thought to be classical Babesia symptoms like shortness of breath.

So then the question arises: was it the heparin which made those issues worse as part of its “normal” adverse effects or is it the ozone induced die-off reaction?

Is this the explanation why some people are convinced that ozone made their Babesia infection worse?

Who’s to know?

But it gets even more confusing:

Fact #2 you should know before the 10 pass ozone treatment: heparin can trigger a histamine reaction

Another problem is that heparin appears to make histamine issues worse [5]. Not surprising, after all it’s made from an animal product.

Some chronically sick people, maybe a large number of them, suffer from histamine intolerances, including those with MCAS – Mast Cell Activation Syndrome.

Histamine can trigger a whole collection of symptoms: fatigue, digestive issues, headaches, rashes, bloating, dizziness, anxiety, etc. [6].

So then the question arises again: did the worsening occur because of the “normal” heparin adverse reactions, or does the patient suffer from a histamine intolerance? Or was it something else? Maybe something the patient ate or did which had nothing to do with the ozone?

It gets complicated.

You can’t be sure.

So this usually benign and well tolerated drug, when given to chronically sick people during the 10 pass creates a whole series of confounding issues which makes it impossible to figure out what impact the ozone part had and what was caused by other factors.

And it gets even better. Or worse, depending on how you look at it:

Does the shaking of the blood cause hemolysis during the 10 pass? It appears that way.

Fact #3 you should know before the 10 pass ozone treatment: the 10 pass causes hemolysis

Hemolysis is the destruction of red blood cells and it appears that it occurs during the 10 pass.

But: So far, we only have one report of hemolysis after a 10 pass.

In order to find out if it’s reproducible, I’m planning to do an experiment with my own 10 pass machine. But injecting myself with a 18 gauge needle is not something I’m looking forward to, so I’ve been laying it off.

But it would not be too surprising if I was able to confirm the finding.

After all, it’s known that extracting blood and pumping it through various contraptions does lead to a destruction of red blood cells. Artificial heart valves can cause anemia for this very reason. [11]

This is why Major Autohemotherapy is contraindicated in cases of severe anemia. At least that’s what I’ve been taught at my German ozone therapy certification course. You don’t want to risk making it worse.

What symptoms does anemia cause?

According to the Mayo clinic it can be fatigue, weakness, irregular heartbeats, dizziness, or headaches. [7]

Again, this reads like the very symptoms people have before they get ozone therapy in the hopes of eliminating them.

But if those symptoms get worse after the 10 pass, you’ll again ask yourself: Was it caused by the ozone? Or because I lost some red blood cells? Or was it a histamine reaction?

Red blood cells live for around 100 to 120 days [8]. Incidentally, some people report that they started feeling better a few months after their 10 pass ozone treatments. I always wondered why that was. The hemolysis offers a possible explanation: it probably took them that long to regenerate their blood.

Another factor is that heparin can cause immune mediated thrombocytopenia, or lack of platelets. The body starts producing a new type of antibodies which cause this condition. [12] How long does it take for those antibodies to disappear after the discontinuation of heparin? 2 to 3 months. Exactly the amount of time when some people start feeling better after a series of 10 passes.

Maybe that’s where the improvement came from and not from the ozone?

Again, difficult to know.

Add to it that some people may not be anemic, but on a vegan diet. So they may have a harder time replenishing the blood they lost during the 10 pass. [9]

Maybe that’s what’s going on for some people? And not a Herxheimer reaction?

Questions over questions.

Confounding factors over confounding factors.

“Whatever you have, the 10 pass will cure it!”

Fact #4 you should know before doing the 10 pass ozone treatment: the hype is strong

When it comes to the 10 pass ozone treatment and its outcomes, there are no good quality studies which show its effectiveness.

These problems are not unique to ozone therapy research. It applies to most medical studies. [10]

So all we have when it comes to the 10 pass are observations of doctors and a few testimonials from patients in The Ozone Group.

Both groups have their problems.

Doctors operate under a huge bias, don’t collect the outcomes of their treatments in any systematic fashion, and rarely check back with their patients to track their progress.

Patients in ozone groups are self-selected. Many of them join them because they have lingering health problems after the ozone treatments. Hence, it’s possible that members of those groups display more complications than patients in general.

So although there is a huge lack of solid data on the effectiveness of the 10 pass, you would never guess that when talking to some ozone doctors.

The confidence with which 10 passes are sold often borders on snakes-oil-salesmanship including promises of complete cures.

Reports of patients in ozone groups show that many times the cures don’t realize as promised.

A poll conducted in The Ozone Group showed the following results:

Out of a total of 33 participants 13 (39%) said they saw a 80% to 100% improvement or resolution of symptoms, 5 (15%) saw no improvement, and 11 (33%) saw a 20% to 40% improvement. One person reported getting worse.

Those numbers paint a more sobering picture than what your doctor may be telling you.

In light of this, it may be good to keep in mind that patients results vary, greatly sometimes. And there are no guarantees, no matter how convincing your doctor comes across.

So yes, sometimes the 10 pass can be a great treatment. But this does not mean that you would not have achieved the same or similar results with lesser ozone treatments and at the fraction of the cost by treating yourself at home.

The added bonus of doing this is that you don’t need any heparin, there are no drug induced histamine reactions, and no hemolysis. You’re using JUST ozone, nothing else.

So if something does not turn out the way you hoped – it’s easier to figure out what the problem was.

Or if you get better, you'll know exactly why.

And knowledge is power. If you know what it was that brought about the remission, then you can repeat it and reproduce the results when needed.

A treatment with the 10 pass on the other hand can leave you more clueless than before.

So before you go on an ozone vacation with the 10 pass, don’t forget to check your luggage ;-).

    Hey Paola,

I’m glad I saw this too because 10 pass sounded exciting but it sounds like it could be dangerous & has risks & is overhyped as I’m suspecting the same with NAD+ – a lot of hyped up unproven claims.

So do you recommend avoiding all IV ozone, or just the 10 pass?

I’ve had 6 regular single pass iv ozone at a rate of 2-3 per week & she said they have to use a small amount of heparin. Do they use a lot more for the 10 pass which I will not be doing especially after reading this & now I’m wondering if I should cancel the remaining 2 iv ozone treatments I have left.

As I mentioned in another post, I’m dealing with red bumps/rash, new joint pain in my knees, & anxiety, some nights insomnia & night sweats. It’s hard to really know because so many variables & I already deal with anxiety.

The last thing I want to do is regress & cause harm with something so expensive that I thought would help & not harm.

Hopefully the heparin is less & less of an issue in a 30-45 minutes single pass?

      Hi Holly,

I don't recommend avoiding all ozone IVs, not even the 10 pass.

I recommend people going in being informed about it and also have realistic expectations about it.

Some of the side effects you mentioned are also listed under heparin …. so, it seems like you are exactly in the situation I want people to be aware of when doing ozone and heparin.

How much heparin is used for the 10 pass can vary from doctor to doctor. The “classical” 10 pass called for 20,000 units, but I don't think anyone does this nowadays, but you need to ask to be sure. I think most use now 7,500 units. But I believe any amount can induce adverse effects.

Hi Paola! Can you clarify for me how one could legally get Heparin in the US? I've been in contact with the Zotzmann GmbH and inquired about the Ozon2000 a little while ago. I just can't figure out the Heparin situation. Thanks for all your information!!

      Hi Melanie,

heparin is a prescription drug. You need a prescription from your doctor to obtain it.

In his book “OZONE A New Medical Drug” Velio Bocci advocates sodium citrate as the best anticoagulant.

Bocci qualifies this with “provided is not in excess, to avoid a transitory hypocalcemia and it is safe in practically all patients, including those already under either anticoagulants (Warfarin, heparin, hirudin), or antiplatelet drugs (aspirin, dipyridamole, ticlopidine, clopidogrel), or thrombolytic agents (streptokinase, tissue plasminogen activator), or patients with hepatic diseases and a low prothrombin level.”

      Hi Peter,

the 10 pass can not be performed with sodium citrate …. too much would be needed which could lead to hypocalcemia.

Hello Dr. Paola Dziwetzki . I have severe anemia, chronic fatigue and very low iron (ferretin as low as 4). I suspect I have an ulcer, some kind of internal bleed possibly, and definetely an internal infection for many years that i cannot get rid of. I am considering doing a 10 pass treatment as I believe this will heal my infection which causes my fatigue, and pain. I read what you have written about anemia, and possible side effects. Also not taking glutathione. I would like to go to a clinic where they just hook me up and I do at least 10 treatments in a row. Do you know of any such clinic in the world that is affordable and worth getting on a plane and going to. I am really motivated to get better. Or do you think it would be more wise in my case to just buy an ozone machine and do at home treatments…..i want to get better fast but am aware of risks, and wondering where to put my investment to get the most return on my health. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

      Hi Jane,

      thank you for contacting me.

I'm afraid that if you are severely anemic and with a suspicion of internal bleeding, you're not a candidate for the 10 pass, since this could make the anemia and bleeding much worse.

You didn't say where the ulcer was, but if it's in the stomach or small intestine, intravenous ozone treatments would not be the best approach. Instead I suggest drinking ozonated water. This has fixed my ulcers several times over the years within 1 to 2 days.

Low iron and ferritin could be a sign of bleeding, as you are suspecting, or because of inadequate dietary approaches (among other possible culprits). Both things can not be fixed with ozone.

You're welcome to contact me for a consultation so we can find out what is going on: https://thepowerofozone.com///bookme

    Hi there,

I have suspected MCAS. It causes a lot of health problems for me. After a flare this year following a virus, I am looking into getting an ozone machine. They are on sale 35% off from Simply O3 for Black Friday.

Some places online say you can treat MCAS using ozone. Do you find good results in improving MCAS using say rectal insufflations via ozone?

My husband have done 6 of 10 pass treatments (2 every week) and his blood still too dark.
What can it means… a lot of health burdens, not right procedure or unknown..?

      Hi Tatyana,

the color of the blood is irrelevant.

You can't track the progress of ozone treatment by the color of the blood.

      Hello Dr. Salerno,

do you wish to order a 10 pass machine? If so, I suggest you contact Herrmann Apparatebau for the Green Machine, or the Zotzmann company.

Well, I had a ten pass treatment and thought I was going to die. Kidneys shut off and I was so inflamed that I had blood coming out of my sinuses, etc., and moles. Imagine when they told me I had hemolysis. That is a new one. Wish I would have known this information you had here when I had this done. I’m still not out of the woods.

Good information. I liked it a lot. Have you heard about the ”5 Pass Ozone+UV system” procedure?? Seems that it was created by Drs Ozone team, especially Tom Lowe.
    .
He made a youtube video explaining that it could (maybe) be a good substitute for the 10 pass ozone procedure at least regarding people who have side effects or weak veins. Youtube video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gM0kTSid8ms
    .
He also said that it was The Best Medical News for Ozone and UBI
(Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation) in the last 40 years. A Canadian company called Vasogen would do scientific tests regarding this procedure.

      Hi NPL Trader,

I have heard about the 5 pass plus UVBI.

As to the 400 pages document which is supposed to prove the extraordinary powers of this treatment: as far as I can see, it's a collection of patents or applications for patents. They quote a bunch of experiments but without them having been published anywhere else – and I can't discern from the document that they have – it's impossible to say if they adhered to scientific standards. Over the course of history there have been gazillion filed patent applications, but only a handful of those inventions have proven to do what their inventors claimed to do.

Those are my 2 cents based on a cursory study of the info you provided.

      I hope this helps.
