Most Effective Ozone Treatment – Which One Is It?

by | Last updated: Jan 26, 2020 | 29 comments

When looking for the most effective ozone treatment, you'll quickly find that there is quite a list to pick from. Ozone can be administered in a multitude of ways and new ozone methods are being invented all the time. So which one is the best?

The most effective type of ozone therapy is usually the one which treats the affected area as directly as possible. Depending on which condition is present this can be intravenous ozone administration, direct ozone gas injections, or one of the many non-invasive types of ozone therapy.

That's right, it's not always the 10 pass. Sometimes drinking ozonated water can be more effective than a high dose invasive ozone administration.

Let's break it down one by one:

Does more ozone automatically mean a better outcome?

It’s assumed that the way ozone works is by producing beneficial oxidative stress in the form of lipid peroxides and hydrogen peroxide [1]. These molecules either directly kill pathogens or stimulate our immune system which then does the killing.

If pushed to their upper limits, ozone treatments can supposedly stimulate the production of stem cells. Or at least that’s the theory the inventor of the 10 pass, Dr. Lahodny, proposes. [2]

So how much ozone are we talking about?

Here is a list:

How much ozone is used during each ozone treatment:

10 pass: 140 mg *

Multi-passes: 28 mg to 140 mg

EBOO: 10 to 15 mg

Ozonated saline IV: 0.4 to 20 mg

MAH: 1 to 14 mg

DIV: 1.2 to 3.6 mg

* This is how much ozone is used during the “standard” 10 pass with 200 ml of O3/O2 mix. If 300 ml of the gas is used,  then the total ozone dosage increases to 210 mg. For a 20 pass the total dosage ranges from 280 to 420 mg; for a 30 pass from 420 to 630 mg (= 30 x 300 ml x 70 mcg/ml)

According to the math, if more ozone guaranteed a better outcome, then the 10 pass should be a clear winner.

The 20 pass should turn your clock back by at least 20 years, and the 30 pass should turn you into Superman.

That's if you believe that more ozone means better results.

But does it really?

Let's see.

This overview shows you the possible maximum ozone dosage each intravenous ozone method can deliver. The actual dosage depends on the ozone concentration the practitioner used during the treatment.

Does the 10 pass always deliver better results?

All we have on the topic are doctors' opinions and anecdotal reports from patients. Both of which can paint a skewed picture.

Medical doctors are inherently biased towards their work, and ozone doctors tend to be biased towards the 10 pass specifically.

One 10 pass can cost up to 10 times the price of one Major Autohemtherapy. So even if the treatment is not necessarily better for the patient, it’s definitely better for the doctor's bottom line.

Some of the Youtube testimonials are impressive. But how many people does a doctor have to treat to receive one glowing review? Is it 1 out of 1, or 1 out of 20?

No doctor I know of collects and compares patient outcomes methodically and systematically. How many doctors do you know who called you months or years later to ask about the outcome and how it compared to other treatments you received? And did they take into account that you dialed down on sweets during that time? Or that you started working out more?

Which doctor has the time or resources to do this? And do it in a way that would exclude every other factor which may have influenced the outcome?

Certainly, no doctor I know.

In order to be able to correctly answer this question, one would need to conduct a comparative study with the 10 pass. No such study has ever been performed.

So, the information we have available about the alleged superiority of the 10 Pass is anecdotal, biased, and imperfect.

In that vein, allow me to add my own imperfect information to the mix:

Me performing a multi-pass on a patient.

My personal experience with ozone multi-passes

I own a 10 pass machine and could be doing multi-passes all day every day. And yet I don’t.

When I feel the need to do ozone, doing treatments on the 10 pass  machine is not my go-to option. Not even close.

If I need an ozone fix, I can often get a bigger boost and a more pronounced effect from a DIV, some ozonated water or even an insufflation, depending on what I’m treating, than from a multi-pass.

I have also observed similar effects on my patients in my former practice. As a naturopath I was not allowed to use heparin, so I never did full 10 passes. But I did multi-passes using up to 56 mg of ozone per treatment. And yet, I would often see better outcomes with other delivery methods which called for 1/30th of the ozone dosage.

There are some members in our Facebook group “The Ozone Group” which report similar experiences.

Their stories together with my experience of having used ozone for 13 years in all its different forms and amounts leads me to the conclusion: the amount of ozone can’t predict the outcome of the treatment.

Are intravenous ozone treatments always more effective than non-invasive ones?

If a doctor wants to maximize the effect of a given therapy, he will often go for the intravenous route. Whether with antibiotics, Vitamin C, or anaesthetics – the drug goes directly into the blood stream and the result is often strong and immediate.

Same applies for ozone: intravenous deliveries are a great and often very powerful systemic treatment. But not always.

Here some examples:

Infections tend to focus on just one part of the body: be it a strep throat, the herpes virus which sits in the lower spine, or dental cavitations.

Yes, in those cases intravenous applications can work in a supportive way but the most effective ozone treatments will focus on fighting the pathogen directly where it sits.

Big joints contain cavities filled with sinovial fluid without any blood vessels. An intravenous administration is not the best approach to address joint problems. It may not even have any effect, depending on what causes the pain.

Case in point: when working at a doctor’s office, I met a man who had to have 3 different shoulder surgeries during which doctors tried to debride a bacterial infection which did not respond to i.v. antibiotics.

Another area where intravenous ozone applications won’t reach: intestines. Intravenous ozone will do nothing for SIBO, IBS, or colitis, except for a minor or transient improvement.

If there is a dangerous and invasive growth, intravenous ozone administrations can be used as a supportive treatment, but the most promising ozone approach would be the one which treats the tumor as directly as possible.

Me performing one of my favorite go-to treatments: DIV, direct ozone injection. The needle could have been definitely inserted a bit deeper.

There is a reason why there are different ozone treatments

This is why the best ozone doctors have different ozone tools at their disposal: Take Dr. Rowen who is a huge fan of the intravenous 10 Pass method, yet in some cases he prefers to do gastric insufflations or straight ozone injections, for example into the prostate.

Clearly, he understands that different conditions require different best ozone approaches.

This shows:

The most effective ozone treatment is the one which matches your condition in the best manner.

And this is not always the 10 pass.

In some cases, the 10 pass can be very effective, in others it could be also the least effective ozone treatment.

Let me illustrate the most and least effective ozone approaches on a few examples:

Example #1: Joint pain due to a sports injury

Most effective ozone treatment: Ozone injections into the joint at a doctor’s office.

Least effective ozone treatment: any type of ozone IV (including the 10 pass) or home ozone treatments.

A sports injury may require just a single well placed ozone injection into the joint. So it makes the most sense to go to a doctor for this one time treatment. The least effective approach would be to immediately invest into one’s own equipment without knowing if ozone is the right approach in the first place. Same with any type of intravenous ozone administration. They will not direct the ozone where it’s needed the most: into the joint.

Example #2: Joint pain due to an auto-immune condition

Most effective ozone treatment: home ozone applications combined with a low carb or zero carb diet

Least effective ozone treatment: any type of ozone IVs (including the 10 pass), or direct ozone injections into the joint without dietary changes.

IVs or local injections will only offer temporary improvements at best. With auto-immune conditions like for example psoriasis what you’re looking for is a long term symptom management program, not a one time cure. Home ozone treatments like ozone saunas or subcutaneous injections together with a keto or carnivore diet offer the most successful approach. Other solutions will likely deliver only temporary results.

Read the full guide on buying your own home ozone equipment.

Example #3: Gastritis

Most effective ozone treatment: drinking ozonated water, taking Oxy-Powder or Homozon.

Least effective ozone treatment: any type of ozone IVs including the 10 Pass

Inflammation of the upper digestive tract is best treated with the most direct method: drinking ozonated water. This can soothe the inflammation immediately. But be careful: if the gastritis is caused by a helicobacter pylori infection, the die-off effect can be violent. Oxy-powder can offer a gentler approach. A low to zero carb diet is a necessity. Any type of intravenous ozone treatment would be the wrong approach and will only offer minor or transient effects.

Example #4: Low immune system

Most effective ozone treatment: a short intensive course of ozone IVs, or a series of ozone saunas.

Least effective ozone treatment: single ozone treatments of any kind at your doctor spaced apart by a week or more.

The best way to boost the immune system with ozone appears to be an intensive course of ozone IVs. A series of ozone saunas may also deliver the same benefit. It’s important that the treatments are performed during that time in an intensive manner. This means at a rate of at least three times a week. The least effective approach would be to do infrequent, single ozone treatments at your doctor’s office.

Bottom line

The most effective ozone treatment is the one which matches your health problem the best and which delivers the best results for you.

This may be the 10 pass or it may be a one time injection at your doctor’s office, or it may be an ongoing treatment plan at home coupled with a dietary change.

Here, as in other areas of life: it’s different ozone strokes for different folks!

    Hi Paola,

Thank you for all your work. I m delighted to have found your site. I wanted to ask what is, according to your opinion, the best product which combines ozone and an infrared sauna. Or would it be better to purchase an infrared sauna and ozone sauna separately?

Also, is there any way ozone can treat SIBO at all?

    Reply
    • Paola Dziwetzki

      Hi Derek,

I believe that SIBO is lack of bile flow.

So, I would primarily look at reestablishing that. You may need to figure out why there is not enough bile, which can have different causes … A low vitamin A diet consisting of muscle meat and beans may be helpful. Or a carnivore diet. Or some variation of low vit A keto.

Ozone could support this. I believe best would be ozone water, and oxy-powder / Homozone. Rectal insufflations likely also help increase bile flow.

As to which product combines ozone and infrared: I think I know of only these two: https://thepowerofozone.com/t5p6 and this https://thepowerofozone.com/TOGPLO3IRsauna . Unfortunately, I haven't tried either one, so can't say much …

    Hi
    Thank you for your site!
I have ME with immune dysfunction, chronic infections which bother my sinuses / head area predominantly. From what I gather the 10 pass is helpful for systematic effects but sadly I really don’t think I have the veins, blood tests are often as issue! I don’t fancy RI because I had microbiome implants which helped a lot and I don’t want to risk disrupting them. So aside from local applications (breathing the ozonated oil and ear insufflations) is there an alternative systematic treatment for those with rubbish veins?
Also someone on FB mentioned you may have a discount code for the longevity generator? I was going to buy a home unit to support any clinic treatments.
    Thanking you!

      Hi HoJo,

Unfortunately, I don't have a discount code for the Longevity, no.

As to intravenous ozone IVs: you may want to look into DIV, direct intravenous ozone injections. They are performed with a very small needle which is great for small veins.

VI, vaginal insufflations, are also a good non-invasive systemic treatments. But nothing beats ozone saunas, in my opinion.

If with ME you mean Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, you may want to look into vitamin A toxicity and a low vitamin A diet.

Do you know if ozonated olive oil would be good for SIBO? For example: (https://shop.puro3.com/puro3-ozonated-olive-oil-capsules/) This particular brand is fully ozonated.

Also, do you know if small amounts of fully ozonated olive oil can be taken internally? After doing some reading, some don't recommend it which concerned me.

      Hi David,

      I think it's worth trying.
Yes, ozonated oils can be taken internally. This has been done in Germany for decades. The oils are called “rizoles” and can be obtained at pharmacies. Rizoles are assumed to have many different health benefits.

I would like to try ozone therapy for polymyalgia rheumatica as well as post-concussion, overall fatigue, brain fog, and confusion. I have been researching it for a while and have heard that the 10 pass method is effective. All the available therapy around me only offer the MAH method. My doctor treated my PMR with prednisone and I have lasting effects on my vision and brain fog from that plus my pain increased 80% after weaning off the prednisone. I am doing so much to feel better, supplements, herbs, qigong, meditation, and it is to no avail. I have reversed my diabetes and am very health concious for myself and the planet. I am wondering your opinion on the MAH process for my overall condition?

    • Paola Dziwetzki

      Hi Tia,

I would need much more about what you have already tried, and what diet you are on to be able to say with some degree of certainty whether MAH will work for you or not. Best is to just try it out and see.

I would also look into thiamine deficiency, though: https://draxe.com/nutrition/thiamine-deficiency/

      Hi Ky,

I don't know …. I wouldn't know how to quantify it or compare it to other treatments ….
Just do a few treatments and see how the symptoms you attribute to a low immune system respond to the saline IVs and move according to that.

Is it normal for the igg numbers to rise before going down when doing treatments and raw diet?

    • Paola Dziwetzki

      Hi Ky,

      I haven't heard of that … I don't know.
But if with “raw diet” you mean raw vegan diet, then this way of eating can cause many different health problems, even when done for a short while.

Is there any type of ozone that will help with sibo, and you still work with? I am trying to get my diet more under control. By that I mean I'm already gluten-free grain-free and such but I feel like I shouldn't be having any carbs at all at least for a while.

    Reply
    • Paola Dziwetzki

      Hi Cecelia,

for SIBO I suggest to drink 2 to 4 glasses of ozonated water per day (at 8 to 10 oz each) and take either Oxy-powder or Homozon or an equivalent of that.

And yes, low or zero carb diet is absolutely critical.

There are people in the carnivore community who say that they were able to get rid of SIBO or completely control it just by cutting out all plant foods.

What’s the most effective ozone treatment and protocol for debilitating long term exposure to mold creating unexplained weight gain, swelling, excess lymph, digestive problems Fatigue and brain fog? I haven’t been able to find a comprehensive plan even through practitioner

    • Paola Dziwetzki

      Hi Skye,
the most important part in my opinion is mold avoidance.
After that, I would try any type of ozone IV: DIV, MAH, 10 pass, or multipass.
If there is no improvement, then I would try to see if the mold may not have damaged the ligaments and cause structural problems. So it could make sense to consult with some specialists for craniocervical instabilities. What do you think about bubbling ozone through olive oil. It seems to change the nature in a way that makes possible a therapeutic way to breathe the resulting ozonoids. It seems that this could be the greatest way to aid those with pneumonia and coronavirus. Seems like this would be a great way to create a sanitation buffer in airports by adding some to the air. Do the ozonoids kill pathogens the same way as the ozone did?

    Reply
    • Paola Dziwetzki

      Hi Joe,
I think breathing ozone bubbled through olive oil is a great way to treat any type of respiratory infections, yes!
Prof. Bocci says in his book “Ozone, a New Medical Drug” that lipid peroxides (=ozonides) are cytotoxic, so toxic to certain cells, so yes, they can kill bacteria and other pathogens.

As to the coronavirus, I found the information in this article very interesting: https://blog.nomorefakenews.com/2020/01/25/new-china-virus-swine-flu-hoax-history-matters/

Jon reports how Sheryl Attkinson, the investigative reporter, discovered that the CDC had stopped counting swine flue victims during the swine flue pandemic more than 10 years ago, but kept pushing the swine flue scare. He says something similar is likely happening now with the coronavirus. It's all a hoax to speed up the development of new vaccines. Interesting read.
